Retail Design

LAMAS designs retail spaces by developing a central concept specific to each client and context. Colour, light, and optical effects are core to this process. The studio draws on research into ornament and visual perception to make design decisions that go beyond aesthetics. How a surface catches light, how colour shifts across a room, or how a repeating motif orients movement through a space are all considered in relation to the experience of the people using it. The work is grounded in construction pragmatics, so these ideas are realized with precision at every scale.

“LAMAS and Oyster Boy win best in show: oysters demand a certain sense of occasion. Even at a summer festival surrounded by hungry Torontonians, LAMAS delivered the best atmosphere to accompany this level of flavour.”
