BEAT Toronto Hosts “Women of LAMAS” Talk with Wei-Han Vivian Lee & Kara Verbeek
LAMAS would like to thank BEAT Toronto for hosting Women of LAMAS, a conversation with Wei-Han Vivian Lee and Kara Verbeek held on April 29, 2026. The event brought together students, emerging practitioners, and members of Toronto’s architecture and design community for an evening of discussion at the LAMAS studio.
The talk focused on the evolution of LAMAS’ practice across architecture, research, teaching, and representation, with discussion ranging from the studio’s residential and hospitality work to broader themes of materiality, landscape, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Vivian Lee and Kara Verbeek also reflected on pathways through practice, mentorship, and the relationship between academic and professional work within contemporary architecture.
The evening concluded with a thoughtful Q+A session and networking reception, creating space for conversation around design practice, leadership, and emerging directions within the profession. LAMAS is grateful to BEAT Toronto and all attendees for the engaging discussion and generous exchange of ideas.
