Daniels Faculty and TIFF Present James Macgillivray on L’Eclisse
James Macgillivray of LAMAS presented a talk on Michelangelo Antonioni’s film L’Eclisse as part of a program hosted by the University of Toronto Daniels Faculty in collaboration with TIFF. The event took place on June 9, 2018 and was part of a series exploring relationships between architecture, film, and visual culture.
The program brought together architectural and cinematic perspectives to examine how film constructs spatial perception, atmosphere, and urban experience. Within this context, L’Eclisse was used as a lens to discuss modernist environments and the representation of architectural space through cinematic framing and duration.
The presentation reflects LAMAS’ broader research interests at the intersection of architecture and film, particularly in how moving image media can inform spatial analysis, representation, and the understanding of built environments.
