Avling Kitchen & Brewery Wins Restoration & Renovation at the 2020 Architecture MasterPrize
Avling Kitchen & Brewery by LAMAS received the winner distinction in the Restoration & Renovation category at the 2020 Architecture MasterPrize. The project is located in Toronto, Canada, and was recognized as part of the international awards program announced in 2020 celebrating excellence across architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture.
The Architecture MasterPrize highlights work selected by an international jury from a large global submission pool, with categories spanning commercial, residential, institutional, and heritage-related projects. The Restoration & Renovation category specifically recognizes projects that adapt and transform existing buildings through architectural reuse, material strategy, and new programmatic integration. Avling Kitchen & Brewery was developed through the transformation of a former supermarket into a combined food production, brewing, and hospitality environment.
The project reworks the existing structure through a layered interior strategy that makes production and public experience visible within a single continuous space. A rooftop garden extends the building’s operational logic into cultivation, reinforcing the relationship between agriculture, brewing, and hospitality as part of the architectural concept.
